The real problem with holding its target audience happened about half way in and never let up. Chances are that Free Birds will work better on DVD Blu ray and digital download about three months from now. At that point at home kids can watch and re watch the movie to figure out the messy plot and get into the characters.On the big screen Free Birds tends to be too fragmented too disjointed and too unnecessarily complicated. Forgiving for the moment that most of the jokes in Free Birds are not terribly funny the ugly context in which the film tries to force itself is too drawn out and unmistakable to make this movie anything but unpleasant.
