The movie is distribute with sources to category oldies — Poltergeist,The Changeling, Bob Wise is The Haunting — but they are never foregrounded. They are shifting nods; a movie producer recognizing what changes on him, and allowing the viewers know he is a fan, too. Instead, Wan uses the acquainted story as a content for his own bravura efficiency in category filmmaking.
