http://www.ziplist.com - If the first film was a tribute to The Poltergeist the sequel does the same with The Shining. There is not an abandoned hotel here but a father threatening his family story. A scene where Josh is trying to get through a door is a sneaky homage to the Heres Johnny scene. The screenplay by Leigh Waghnell has some clever plot developments but takes a while to switch gears. The only thing it relies too much on is jump scares. There is an eerie atmosphere and a few cinematic tricks in James Wans bag that make this film worth watching. There is a bit of humor intentional and unintentional which always helps.Patrick Wilson is getting the hang of this. He reminds me of an icon like Ash Williams.
